Sustainable Solutions
The number of people without access to clean drinking water is growing. According to the WHO, UNICEF progress report 387 million people lived without access to basic drinking water services in Sub Saharan Africa in 2020 up from 350 Million people in 2000. Amaizi H20 Outreach is mitigating access to clean water and addressing the problem of water shortage especially in rural communities. We are partnering with local communities to establish sustainable solutions and addressing climate change challenges that have led to water shortages.
Strategic Collaborations
In Sub-Saharan Africa, the burden of collecting water is usually left to the women and children, meaning that they miss out on the opportunities to work or study. We are partnering with local governments to ensure that women and young children especially the girls don’t get left behind because of the cultural and gender roles which may derail them from advancing in work and educational opportunities.
Environmental Stewardship
Environmental Stewardship and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene programs are intrinsically liked and mutually interdependent. Proper sanitation and waste management are important in preventing environmental contamination and pollution. Environmentally conscious interventions can contribute to climate change mitigation by reducing green house emissions. The reduction of pollutants and managing waste can help maintain biodiversity and improve natural processes that support aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. In essence, environmental stewardship provides the foundation for universal access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene. Healthy ecosystems provide important services such as natural water filtration, regulation of water flow, and absorption of waste. Degradation of these ecosystems can lead to catastrophic compromise of clean water practices resulting in unsafe water. Without a healthy environment the universal access to safe water becomes challenging, if not impossible to achieve.
